Abstract:

These data show established research natural areas (RNAs) on national forests and national wildlife refuges in Montana.

They are extracted from the statewide land ownership and managed areas layer maintained by the MTNHP.

Attribute accuracy report:

RNA names are from various agency sources; mostly establishment reports.

Completeness report:

This data set includes all currently established RNAs on national forests and national wildlife refuges in Montana. Not included are several "proposed" RNAs on national forests and any RNAs established in National Park Service units.

Horizontal Positional Accuracy Report:

This is basically 1:100000 scale (100K) data with a horizontal accuracy of approximately 170 feet. But many RNA boundaries were digitized by the US Forest Service from 1:24000 scale maps and were incorporated unchanged into stew (the parent layer).
